Now for some common questions:

What size job can you handle?

We can handle jobs of all sizes. Large or small, we do it all!

How long will it take?

Well, that is hard to say. So much depends on the piece, the finish process, the detail on the piece, etc. It usually takes about 3-4 weeks for a complete refinishing job, but some smaller strip only jobs can be done the same day!

Can you strip metal?

We can strip most metal pieces. We do not strip aluminum. We use a different stripping method for removing paint and powder coat from metal pieces. Our experience with metal stripping is that they become very clean, and you will need to protect them from corrosion as soon as possible. As a matter of fact, they begin to corrode immediatly in teh atmosphere as soon as they are stripped. This surface corrosion is easily removed with a soft rag and paint prep, or mineral spirits.

Do you do repairs?

We can do all types of repairs, large or small. We have repaired everything from a leg from a pre-civil war sofa to a buffet that had fallen out of the delivery truck! Minor repairs are performed as part of our refinishing service.

What if my piece is veneer?

We can strip, refinish, and repair veneered pieces, as long as the veneer is in fairly good shape. If repairs are necessary, we can perform them at the shop and color match to the rest of the piece.

How long will it take to have my chair seat re-caned?

This is a trick question! If it is pre-woven cane (a grove runs around the seat, with no holes through) it can be done fairly quickly - within a few days. If it is hand woven (individual strands of cane are woven through holes in the seat) it will take significantly longer. Sometimes as long as a few months, depending the caning backlog.
